France Get an EHL Women’s Team for the First Time as 2026/27 Places Take Shape

A small piece of history slipped out of Vienna last week. France are getting an EHL Women’s team for the first time.

EuroHockey’s updated allocation picture for the 2026/27 women’s competition has France in the top tier after Saint Germain finished third and Lille fifth at the EuroHockey Club Trophy I in Vienna. That was enough to lift France into the one-team group for next season’s EHL.

The top of the table hasn’t moved. The Netherlands stay first after SCHC’s win and Belgium stay second, and both keep two teams, as do Germany in third and Spain in fourth. England in fifth and Ireland in sixth keep one team each.

One place is still open. It’ll be settled after the Club Trophy II in Alanya, and right now Scotland are in pole position to take it, which would be a tidy week for Scottish hockey with the men chasing a EuroChamps27 spot in Rome at the same time. The men’s side of the EHL story — next March’s FINAL12 draw — is already set.
