United East Playoffs Set: Lancaster Bible and Wilson Survive Tuesday, Harrisburg and St Mary’s Wait

Tuesday night did exactly what first-round playoff hockey is supposed to do. One comfortable win, one absolute thriller, and now the top two seeds finally enter the picture.

Lancaster Bible took the steadier route. The No. 3 seed beat No. 6 Cedar Crest 2-0 to take the first of the two semifinal spots on offer. No drama in the scoreline, and that’s the point at this stage of the season. Win, move on, save the legs for Saturday.

Wilson gave us the night’s story. The No. 5 seed trailed No. 4 Immaculata 2-0, and this one looked done. It wasn’t. Wilson fought back to level it, then won it 4-3 in overtime. That’s the kind of win that changes how a team walks into its next game. Immaculata go home wondering how a two-goal lead disappeared in a knockout game, and honestly, so would anyone.

Saturday’s semifinals are set, and they’re both proper ties. Top seed Penn State Harrisburg take on Wilson, the comeback side with nothing to lose and all the momentum. No. 2 St Mary’s College of Maryland host Lancaster Bible. The top two seeds have had the week to watch and wait. That rest helps, but it also means Wilson and Lancaster Bible arrive match-sharp while Harrisburg and St Mary’s are coming in cold. In a one-off semifinal, that matters.

For our money, Wilson are the dangerous ones now. Teams that survive a game they should have lost tend to believe anything is possible, and Harrisburg will have to kill that belief early or spend the whole game chasing it.
