Stevenson Get Their Rematch: Defending Champions Host Messiah in Wednesday’s MAC Commonwealth Semi-Final

Stevenson have been waiting for this one. The defending MAC Commonwealth champions host Messiah at 5pm on Wednesday, and it is a repeat of last year’s final with a score to settle from this season too.

Stevenson won the 2025 title, the first in program history, by beating Messiah 1-0 in the final. But earlier this season Messiah turned the tables, beating the Mustangs in double overtime while Stevenson were a player down. That is the kind of loss that sticks, and now Stevenson get the rematch at home in Owings Mills with a final on the line.

The stakes are simple. Stevenson are the No. 2 seed, Messiah the No. 3, and both finished 7-1 in conference play alongside top seed York. The winner goes to the championship game on Saturday 7 November at the highest remaining seed, and the champion takes the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament. Stevenson are the No. 5 team nationally, and they will want to protect their turf in front of their own crowd.

The other semi-final on Wednesday sends Widener, fresh from Monday’s 2-1 double-overtime play-in win at Alvernia, away to top seed York. York also finished 7-1 in the league, so Widener’s reward for surviving Monday is the hardest trip in the bracket. Either way, Saturday’s final is shaping up nicely: a defending champion chasing a repeat, a Messiah side that already knows it can beat them, a top seed waiting, and a Widener team playing with nothing to lose.
