Spain’s Double Weekend: 12 Games, Two Terrassa Derbies and an Unbeaten Clash
Spanish hockey doesn’t do rest weekends. The División de Honor plays a full double round this Saturday and Sunday, 12 games in about 48 hours, and the fixture computer has been brutal to the league leaders.
CD Terrassa sit top with 15 points from 15, perfect so far. Their weekend: Junior FC at home on Saturday at 13:00, then the Terrassa derby at Atlètic on Sunday at 11:00. That’s two games in 22 hours, against the third-placed side and then their oldest rivals. If they take six points from this, it might already be a one-team league.
Saturday’s Jornada 6 is the big one. CD Terrassa v Junior is unbeaten against unbeaten (Junior have a game in hand, sitting third on 10), and it’s at Les Pedritxes at 13:00. Same time, the other Terrassa derby: Atlètic v Club Egara at Can Salas. The early game is Real Club de Campo v RS Tenis at 12:00, second against fourth in the chasing pack. RC Polo host CH Carpesa at 13:00, then Sanse Complutense v Sardinero HC and FC Barcelona v UD Taburiente at 15:00.
Sunday’s Jornada 7 keeps the derbies coming: Atlètic v CD Terrassa at 11:00, Junior v Egara at the same time. Campo face Sardinero, Polo host Taburiente at 12:00, and Sanse v RS Tenis and Barça v Carpesa close it at 13:00.
Why this weekend matters
The table says CD Terrassa 15, RS Tenis 12, Junior 10 (game in hand), Polo 9 (game in hand). But the form lines matter more: CD Terrassa just beat Club de Campo 2-1 to confirm top spot, Polo won 3-0 away at RS Tenis, Egara edged Sanse Complutense 2-1, and Barça finally got their first win against Sardinero. Nobody’s coasting.
For our money, Sunday’s Atlètic v CD Terrassa is the tie of the weekend. Derbies don’t care about the table, and Atlètic will have had a full day longer to prepare. CD Terrassa’s perfect record is genuinely on the line here.
Worth knowing: Club de Campo and Atlètic Terrassa already know their EHL 2027 paths after the draw earlier this month, so there’s continental motivation in the mix too.
