Polo, Real Sociedad and Terrassa Take the Saturday Points in Spain
Three games, three home sides beaten, and the Liga Iberdrola table barely moved. But Sunday will change that.
RC Polo beat Club Egara 2-0 on Saturday afternoon, Real Sociedad beat Sardinero 2-0, and CD Terrassa won 1-0 away at Valencia. All three were 16:00 starts except Polo’s 13:45 kick-off, and all three winners kept clean sheets. A tidy, professional Saturday, and now the big games come on Sunday.
The leaders are Club de Campo, on 19 points with a game more played than Junior. They host Atlètic Terrassa on Sunday at 12:30 CET in a rematch of last season’s final, and Atlètic are coming in hot after winning both of their double-round games, 3-0 over Polo and 4-0 over Valencia. The champions are unbeaten, but this is the hardest game they’ve had in weeks.
The other blockbuster is Sanse Complutense against Junior FC at 12:45 CET. Junior have won all six of their games. Complutense are third on 16 points, and both sides took maximum points from last weekend’s double round, Complutense beating Sardinero and Tenis without conceding, Junior beating Valencia and Polo. A Junior win keeps the perfect record alive. A Complutense win takes them above Junior.
For our money, the Complutense against Junior game is the one to watch. Six from six is a serious record, and Complutense are the first side this season with the form and the home crowd to properly test it. If Junior come through that one still perfect, the rest of the league has a real problem.
Sunday starts early in the Canaries, Taburiente against RS Tenis at 10:00 CET, with Tenis seventh on 10 points and Taburiente still looking for their first points of the season.
