Ivy League Tournament Set: Harvard v Yale and Princeton v Cornell for a Trip to the NCAAs
The Ivy League regular season ended with a classic on Saturday, and now the tournament bracket is set. Harvard against Yale, Princeton against Cornell, both on Friday at Berylson Field in Cambridge, and the winner of each goes to Sunday’s final with the league’s automatic NCAA bid waiting at the end of it.
Harvard against Yale is the headliner, and it is a rematch of Saturday’s finale. The Crimson won that one 2-1 in overtime, Emily Bronckers getting the winner in the 68th minute, and that result ended Yale’s seven-game winning streak. Harvard finished a perfect 7-0 in the league and 15-1 overall, and they are ranked No. 5 in the country. Yale, the No. 4 seed at 12-3, will feel they were a whisker away on Saturday. They were. Friday is their chance to prove it was not a one-off.
The second semi-final, at 2:30pm ET, is Princeton against Cornell. Princeton, the No. 2 seed, finished 12-4 after eight straight wins, closing with a 3-1 win at Columbia on Friday. Cornell, the No. 3 seed at 7-9, got here the hard way, with senior Julia Ramsey scoring with 66 seconds left to win 3-2 at Penn on Saturday. Ramsey is Cornell’s all-time assists leader, and she picked a fine time to add a winning goal to the collection.
Friday’s first semi starts at 11:30am ET, Harvard against Yale. The final is Sunday at noon ET, and every game streams on ESPN+. Harvard are the team everyone is chasing after a perfect league season, and Princeton, on eight straight wins, will fancy their chances of stopping them.
