Hoofdklasse Round 6: Oranje-Rood Edge Bloemendaal as Pinoké and Den Bosch Win on Sunday
The headline game delivered. Oranje-Rood beat Bloemendaal 3-2 in Eindhoven on Sunday, and that is a result that shakes up the top of the men’s Hoofdklasse.
Bloemendaal came into Round 6 as the team to beat, with big wins already banked, including 9-1 over Schaerweijde. Oranje-Rood had shown they know how to win tight games at home, and they did it again here. One goal in it, three points banked, and the title race stays wide open instead of turning into a procession.
The Amsterdamse Bos served up another one-goal thriller. Pinoké beat Kampong 3-2, which is exactly the kind of result Pinoké needed after a start full of near misses. Kampong can score against anyone, as their wins over Rotterdam and SCHC showed, but this time they came up just short.
Elsewhere, Den Bosch were the day’s biggest winners on the road, beating HDM 5-2. Amsterdam kept their strong run going with a 3-1 win at Klein Zwitserland, a side that has made a habit of not rolling over at home. Rotterdam beat Tilburg 3-0, and Tilburg’s wait for a first win of the season goes on. The tightest game of the card came at Schaerweijde, where SCHC won 1-0.
Put together, Round 6 did what a good round should do: the leaders dropped points, the chasers closed in, and nobody at the top can afford to coast. Oranje-Rood against Bloemendaal was billed as the game of the weekend, and it lived up to it.
