Brisbane Blaze Women Make It a Double With 3-0 Win Over Adelaide Fire
It was a good day to be a Blaze fan in Brisbane. The women beat Adelaide Fire 3-0 on Saturday afternoon, a few hours after the men had thrashed the same club 10-1, and the Queensland State Hockey Centre got a full double out of its Indigenous Round double-header.
The women’s game kicked off at 5:45pm local time, and by full time it was comfortable. Adelaide’s women, like their men earlier in the day, couldn’t find a way through, and Brisbane banked another three points in front of a home crowd.
The result keeps Brisbane’s weekend on track, and it underlines how tough this trip has been for Adelaide. The Fire men have now lost all three of their games this season, and the women’s side also left Brisbane empty-handed.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Perth Thundersticks did the double in Sydney, beating NSW Pride 3-1 in the men’s game and 3-2 in the women’s to stay unbeaten in the women’s competition. Sunday’s headline act is the first Melbourne derby, with the Cobras meeting HC Melbourne.
