SCHC’s 42-Game Unbeaten Run Meets Den Bosch’s 12 Straight Wins in Hoofdklasse Women’s Round 7

Sunday’s Hoofdklasse women’s card has one game that stands above the rest, and it’s not close. SCHC against Den Bosch in Bilthoven. Both teams arrive with a streak that sounds made up.

SCHC haven’t lost a league game in 42 matches. Thirty-five wins, seven draws, and the last defeat came against Den Bosch themselves, 2-0 at home, on 23 October 2024. Den Bosch, meanwhile, have won their last 12 league games in a row, and their last defeat came against SCHC, 4-0, in March this year. So each side’s last loss was inflicted by the team standing opposite them on Sunday. That’s a proper rivalry.

There’s a catch for SCHC, though. They haven’t beaten Den Bosch at home in ten league meetings, five draws and five defeats, since a 3-2 win way back in March 2015. And the last meeting between these two ended 4-0 to SCHC away at Den Bosch, the win that ended a six-game winless run against them. Form says SCHC. History at Bilthoven says Den Bosch don’t lose there.

Keep an eye on Yibbi Jansen too. She’s on 148 Hoofdklasse goals for SCHC, ten field goals, 125 penalty corners and 13 penalty strokes across eight seasons, and two more on Sunday takes her to 150. At the other end, Den Bosch’s Frédérique Matla has already scored ten field goals this season, as many as she managed in all of last season. Her personal best for a season is 14, set in 2020-21, and she’s on course to smash it.

The rest of Sunday’s card, all at 12:45pm CET (4:45pm PKT), is full of its own stories. Amsterdam against Bloemendaal is a mismatch on paper: Amsterdam have won the last 23 meetings in a row, and Bloemendaal’s last win in this fixture was 1-0 in Amsterdam on 6 November 1994. Kampong host HGC with Kampong winless in three and HGC winners of their last two, while Kampong forward Bente van der Veldt sits on 46 Hoofdklasse goals, four short of 50.

Oranje-Rood against Hurley is the Eindhoven club’s 200th Hoofdklasse match, and they come in with their best start to a season since 2020-21, eight points from six games. Rotterdam against Pinoké is the grudge match: Rotterdam haven’t beaten Pinoké in ten league games, and their last home win over them was a 7-1 thrashing in September 2009, but Rotterdam’s 13 points from six games is their best start since 2007-08. And at the bottom, Victoria host HDM in a meeting of the league’s two lowest scorers: Victoria have two goals all season, HDM have four, and Victoria haven’t won in 14 Hoofdklasse games.

Sunday’s headline is SCHC v Den Bosch, though. Two streaks, one ground, and somebody’s run ends.
