Polo v Terrassa Headline Spain’s Weekend as the División de Honor Rolls On
Spain’s División de Honor keeps rolling this weekend, and the men’s game to watch is in Barcelona, where Real Club de Polo host C.D. Terrassa on Sunday 8 November.
Polo have been the league’s entertainers this season. They put eight past Taburiente on 25 October, and their attack is the kind that can run away with a game if the opposition switches off for ten minutes. Terrassa won’t switch off, though. They pushed Atlètic Terrassa all the way in a 4-3 defeat on the same weekend, so they can score too. This one has goals in it.
Atlètic Terrassa are the form side of the men’s league right now. They followed that 4-3 win over C.D. Terrassa with a 3-2 win over Barcelona on 28 October, and they hold the most league titles in Spanish hockey history with 22. The defending champions are Real Club de Campo, who took their fourth title last season, so the top of this league is as competitive as it’s been in years.
The women’s league has a full weekend as well. Real Sociedad host Sardinero on Saturday 7 November, and Complutense take on Junior on Sunday 8 November. Junior were also in action on Wednesday 5 November, away at Atlètic Terrassa, in a midweek fixture that shows how packed the calendar is right now. Club de Campo are the women’s defending champions, and their 24th title last season underlines just how dominant they’ve been.
Only a handful of this weekend’s fixtures could be confirmed at the time of writing, and kick-off times were not published with the fixture list, so this is the confirmed card rather than the full round. Polo against Terrassa is the one to circle, though. Two attacking sides, both in scoring form, on a Sunday in Barcelona. That usually delivers.
