Argentina's Los Leones celebrate a goal

Los Leones Named for the Pro League Opener as Argentina Get Ready to Host in Córdoba

Argentina are ready to open the Pro League at home. The Confederación Argentina de Hockey named the Los Leones squad on 5 November for the start of the 2026-27 season in Córdoba, and the Estadio Soledad García will host the opening round from 8-13 December.

Los Leones face France and Great Britain. The men’s fixtures are set: Great Britain on Wednesday 9 December at 7:30 p.m. local time, France on Thursday 10 December at 7:30 p.m., Great Britain again on Saturday 12 December at 7:30 p.m., and France on Sunday 13 December at 7:30 p.m. Las Leonas play on the same dates at 9:30 p.m., against Great Britain and China.

It’s a big homecoming for both teams. Las Leonas are the world champions, and Los Leones took World Cup bronze in August, beating the Netherlands 2-1 in the third-place game. Both sides won South American Games gold in Santa Fe in September, the women beating Chile 5-0 and the men winning 3-1.

Las Leonas have been back in training at CeNARD since 21 October under head coach Fernando Ferrara, building towards the same Córdoba opener. The two squads will share the stage in December, and the home crowd will expect a strong start from both.

Córdoba is where the new Pro League season begins, and Argentina get the first word in front of their own fans. That’s a fine place to start.
