The Pro League Is Back in 34 Days: Argentina Opens the 2026-27 Season on 8 December
Put 8 December in the diary. That is when the 2026-27 FIH Pro League starts, in Argentina, and it will run all the way to June 2027 with 144 matches in between. After a month dominated by continental tournaments and college playoffs, the world’s best teams are about to get back to the weekly grind that decides who is actually the best.
Argentina host the opening stage from 8 to 13 December, with the home favourites joined by China women, Great Britain and France men. Then it is straight to Valencia in Spain from 14 to 22 December, with Spain, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. Two blocks, two continents in effect, and no gentle warm-up. The Pro League does not do gentle.
The new season has two fresh faces, and both earned their place. India women and France men rejoin the competition after winning promotion through the FIH Hockey Nations Cup. India women back among the top nine is a big deal for the women’s competition, and France men will test themselves week after week against the best, which is exactly what a rising side needs.
February is where it gets busy for fans in Asia and Oceania. India host a block from 13 to 28 February with India, Argentina men, Germany men, Great Britain and Spain, and Australia host on the Gold Coast from 13 to 21 February with Australia, Belgium, China women, France men and the Netherlands. The Gold Coast is the one Australian home leg of the season, and the hockey community presale opened today, Wednesday 4 November, with general sale through Ticketek on Friday 6 November. If you want to see the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras at home in the Pro League, that is the window.
The season closes in Belgium, in Wavre, from 12 to 27 June 2027, with Belgium, Argentina, Australia, China women, Great Britain, India and Spain. By then we will know who handled the travel, the back-to-back blocks and the pressure. The Pro League rewards consistency more than any other competition in hockey. One great weekend does not win it. Six months of them does.
