Shippensburg Stun No. 1 Kutztown on Senior Day as the PSAC Race Flips

This is the kind of result that rearranges a conference.

No. 3 Shippensburg beat No. 1 Kutztown 1-0 on Senior Day, and the goal came with 20 seconds left in the first quarter. Elaina Fragassi got it, and goalkeeper Grace Meinke made it stand up with her first collegiate shutout. One goal, all afternoon, and it was enough.

The numbers behind it are wild. Kutztown fall to 14-1, and it’s their first loss of the season. It’s also the first time they’ve been shut out in 37 games. Both sides are now 5-1 in the PSAC, so the conference race that looked like a procession is suddenly a fight again. Shippensburg don’t just get a Senior Day memory out of this. They get a share of the lead.

Elsewhere in Division II on Saturday, No. 10 Assumption kept rolling with a 4-0 win at Southern New Hampshire in the NE10. Marta Brzoska, Nova Rijks, Caroline Mastergeorge and Julia Legere all scored, and Assumption move to 10-4, 5-1 in the league. East Stroudsburg shut out Frostburg State 2-0, Lisa Pasman and Bailey Griffin, the second from a penalty stroke, doing the damage. And Mansfield beat Millersville 4-2 in another PSAC game, four different scorers for the Mounties: Jenna Duke, Kylee Boardman, Amanda Ray and Jordan Brunnabend. Millersville’s goals came from Olivia Kline and Alaina Culbert.

But the day belongs to Shippensburg. Beating the No. 1 team is one thing. Shutting them out for the first time in 37 games, on your Senior Day, is another.
