England Women Premier Division: Reading Win 3-0 at Buckingham, East Grinstead Take Wimbledon, Loughborough Edge Teddington

Saturday’s women’s Premier Division card in England is mostly done, and the away teams had the better of it.

Reading were the most convincing winners of the day, beating Buckingham 3-0 on the road and keeping a clean sheet while they were at it. That’s the kind of away win that does a team’s confidence no harm at all. East Grinstead matched the three-goal return, winning 3-1 at Wimbledon, another road win against a side that will be disappointed to lose at home by two.

The tightest game of the finished card was at Teddington, where Loughborough Students won 1-0. One goal, away from home, three points. Loughborough will take that every week. The other finished game ended level: Bowdon drew 1-1 with Hampstead and Westminster, a point each and nobody going home empty-handed.

Saturday’s finished scores

Buckingham 0-3 Reading

Teddington 0-1 Loughborough Students

Bowdon 1-1 Hampstead and Westminster

Wimbledon 1-3 East Grinstead

Two games were still shown as scheduled at the late check, not finished: Durham University against the University of Birmingham, and Surbiton against the University of Nottingham. Don’t read anything into those two yet. The men’s Premier Division card, meanwhile, was still showing all six games as scheduled at the same check, so this piece makes no claim about any men’s result on Saturday.

Three away wins out of four finished games, two of them by three goals and two goals respectively. If the two late games follow the same pattern, Sunday’s table will make interesting reading.
