Nine and Counting: Den Bosch Put Nine Past Victoria as the Women’s Hoofdklasse Race Tightens

Nine goals. No reply. Den Bosch didn’t just win on Sunday, they made a statement about who owns this women’s Hoofdklasse season.

Victoria arrived in Den Bosch already struggling, and from the first whistle it was one-way traffic. The 9-0 final score is the biggest home win of the women’s season so far, and it keeps Den Bosch level on 18 points with SCHC at the top of the table, with Amsterdam back on 13.

That’s the picture after the weekend’s games: two teams pulling clear, and everyone else chasing. Den Bosch have now scored freely all season, and when a side is this ruthless against the teams below them, the title race tends to come down to the games between the top two themselves. SCHC won’t have missed this scoreline.

For Victoria, it’s a long trip home and a hard week on the training pitch. They’ve conceded heavily before this season, and a result like this can either break a side’s confidence or sharpen it. Which one it is will show in their next game.

The men’s side of the club had their own seven-goal thriller in the same round, beating HDM 5-2 in The Hague. It’s been quite a weekend for Den Bosch, in both competitions.
