Hamburg takes over the Bundesliga: eight of the weekend’s twelve men’s games are in one city
German hockey doesn’t do quiet weekends, and this one is louder than most. It’s a double round in the men’s Bundesliga, which means every club plays twice between Friday night and Sunday afternoon, and the fixture computer has produced a strange little gift: eight of the twelve games are in Hamburg.
UHC Hamburg, Harvestehuder THC, Club an der Alster and Hamburger Polo Club are all at home on Saturday. Then they’re all at home again on Sunday. If you like your hockey in bulk, Hamburg is the place to be this weekend.

Mannheim have moved to Hamburg for the weekend
Here’s the quirk we can’t stop looking at. Mannheim’s two clubs, Mannheimer HC and TSV Mannheim, both spend the whole weekend in Hamburg, and they basically swap opponents. MHC go to Alster on Saturday and Polo on Sunday. TSV do it the other way round, Polo first, then Alster.
That’s the hardest road trip on the card, for our money. Two games in 24 hours, both away, against two of the strongest home sides in the league. If Mannheim come out of this weekend with a couple of wins between them, they’ll have earned every one.
Rot-Weiss Köln have the kinder draw, staying in the neighbourhood with trips to DSD Düsseldorf on Saturday and Crefelder HTC on Sunday. UHC Hamburg don’t leave home at all, hosting Münchner SC and then Berliner HC, and double weekends tend to reward squads with depth. UHC have exactly that.
The women’s headline is at Alster too
The women’s Bundesliga runs its own double weekend, and the confirmed headline is at Club an der Alster, where the women’s side host Mannheimer HC on Saturday at 12:00 pm and TSV Mannheim on Sunday at 12:00 pm, on the same pitch, just before the men’s games against the same two clubs.
It’s a proper club weekend. Four games, two days, one ground, and the Mannheim buses rolling in twice. The full women’s card, including Düsseldorfer HC, Bremer HC and Großflottbeker THGC, runs across the same two days with every game also live on Dyn.
By Sunday night the table will have moved twice. That’s the beauty and the cruelty of a double round: have a bad weekend in Germany and you don’t lose ground once, you lose it twice.
