Misericordia Run Away With It Late: 4-0 Over Arcadia Books a Trip to Stevens

This one was settled late, and then settled emphatically. Misericordia beat Arcadia 4-0 on Monday night at Mangelsdorf Field to reach the MAC Freedom semifinals, with Madison Lasinski scoring twice in the fourth quarter to turn a comfortable win into a rout.

Blauch and Delaney Miller added the other goals, and goalkeeper Jordan Nonnemacher made three saves to earn the shutout. That’s the sort of night every coach wants in a knockout game: goals spread around, a clean sheet at the back, and your best burst saved for when the opposition are chasing the game.

Arcadia will wonder where it got away from them. There’s no shame in losing to a side that finishes like that, but 4-0 stings in a quarterfinal, and the fourth quarter will be the part that lingers. Two goals from one player in one quarter is how a season ends quickly.

Now comes the real test. Misericordia travel to top-seeded Stevens on Wednesday at 4 p.m., and that’s a different animal entirely. Stevens are the top seed for a reason, and Misericordia will need the same defensive discipline Nonnemacher showed on Monday, plus a lot more of it, because the chances won’t come as easily.

Still, you can’t ask for a better way to arrive at a semifinal. Four goals, none conceded, and a scorer in form. If Lasinski is still feeling it on Wednesday, Stevens have something to think about.
