Towson Close the Home Book With a 5-2 Win Over Hofstra, Delaware Left on Halloween

Towson made sure the home finale felt like one. The Tigers beat Hofstra 5-2 on Friday in their final home game and final CAA game of the regular season, jumping to a 2-0 first-quarter lead and never letting the Pride closer than that.

Thunnissen scored twice, including the sealer two minutes after Hofstra had threatened a late push, when a penalty corner deflected off several sticks and fell back to her. The win moves Towson to 7-10 overall and 1-5 in the CAA, while Hofstra finish the conference slate at 2-15 and 0-6. It was also a small piece of revenge in a season that hasn’t given Towson much: the Tigers came into the weekend off a 6-0 senior-day win over UC Davis, their biggest scoring day since 2009.

One game left, and it’s a fitting one. Towson travel to Delaware for a 4pm game on Saturday, Halloween, to close the regular season. It’s the second straight year the Tigers’ final game has fallen on Halloween, and Delaware come in at 8-8 with wins over Hofstra and Fairfield in CAA play this season. Towson will want to finish with two straight wins and something to build a winter around. Friday was a good start.
