EHL Finals Draw Made: Amsterdam v Braxgata Headlines the Men, Dragons v Mannheim the Women
Europe’s club season finally has its spring destination mapped out. The EHL made the FINAL12 draw this week, and the 2027 finals will be played 24–29 March at HC Oranje-Rood in Eindhoven. Twelve teams each side, four ties per competition to open it, and some genuinely tasty match-ups.
The men’s draw first. Braxgata against Amsterdam is the pick of the round, and the winner gets a quarter-final against defending champions Rotterdam. Royal Orée face Surbiton with Hamburger Polo Club waiting. Real Club de Campo take on Lisnagarvey for the right to meet Old Georgians. And SV Arminen play hosts Oranje-Rood, with Waterloo Ducks lying in wait.
The women’s bracket looks just as sharp. KHC Dragons against Mannheimer HC, winner to face Amsterdam. Surbiton meet Clydesdale Western for a quarter-final against Real Club de Campo. Atlètic Terrassa play Railway Union, with Düsseldorfer HC waiting. And Lille MHC take on SCHC, winner to face Gantoise.
Worth remembering how we got here. The October Round 1 in Eindhoven produced the qualifiers, and it wasn’t short of stories: Orée’s Loris Grandchamp hit the fastest hat-trick in EHL history, Rotweiss Wettingen recorded a first-ever EHL win (3-1 over CAM92), and Wimbledon went home after a 3-3 with RC Polo and defeat to Oranje-Rood. Lisnagarvey’s 6-0 statement and Arminen’s progress rounded out the men’s qualifiers.
Our take
Amsterdam against Braxgata in March is the tie of the draw on paper, but keep an eye on the Irish and the Austrians. Lisnagarvey and Arminen both came through October with real momentum, and in a one-off quarter-final against the big seeds, that counts for plenty. Five months to wait. It’ll be worth it.
