Scotland Women Host Chile for Two Tests in Glasgow This Weekend

Chile don’t come to Glasgow for the weather. They come because games like this are gold dust in a building year.

Scotland’s senior women host Chile for two internationals at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre, on Sunday 25 and Monday 26 October. Back-to-back tests, same opponent, twenty-four hours apart. Coaches love that format because there’s nowhere to hide: whatever Chile figure out about you on Sunday, they use on Monday.

For Scotland, this is the kind of series that decides winter training squads. The regulars will get their minutes, but the real contest is at the edges of the group, where two home internationals in two days tell a coach more than a month of training does.

Chile, for their part, are nobody’s soft touch in the women’s game anymore. They travel well, they press hard, and they will treat a wet weekend in Glasgow as a free hit. Scotland should win the series on home turf. Whether they win it comfortably is the actual question. England’s women are back in league action Saturday too — here’s the Round 5 preview.
