Serie A Élite Round 8: Perfect Amsicora Face Their Toughest Test Yet at Bra

Seven games, seven wins. That’s Amsicora’s record going into Round 8, and Saturday brings their toughest test yet.

The leaders travel to Bra, who sit third on 13 points, level with Lazio. Amsicora have 21 points and an eight-point cushion at the top. But Bra are the kind of side that can end a perfect run, and they’ve already shown they can hold the best teams. Their last outing was a 3-3 draw with Ferrini.

Round 8 is on Saturday 7 November, and the rest of the card has plenty in it. Bondeno, fourth on 12 points, host Ferrini. Valchisone take on Butterfly. Lazio host HT Sardegna at 3 p.m. at Tre Fontane in Rome. HT Bologna face Tevere Eur.

Lazio will be the team to watch behind the leaders. They’re second on 13 points after beating Butterfly 4-2 in Round 7, and a home win over Sardegna keeps the pressure on. Sardegna are second from bottom on four points after a 2-2 draw with Tevere Eur last week, and they need something from this trip.

Round 7, played on Saturday 31 October, showed why Amsicora are so far clear. They beat Valchisone 8-4. Bondeno beat Bologna 5-1. The rest of the table is tight: Bondeno and Tevere Eur both sit on 12 points, Butterfly and Ferrini on eight, Sardegna on four, Valchisone and Bologna on three.

For our money, Amsicora should keep the run going. They’ve scored freely all season and they’ve already put eight past Valchisone. But Bra at home, with a chance to blow the title race open, is exactly the kind of game where perfect records go to die.
