Belgian Women’s Sunday Card: Leaders Gantoise Visit Braxgata as Dragons Chase

Sunday 8 November is a full card in the Belgian women’s league, and the two sides at the top both have awkward away days.

Leaders Gantoise travel to Braxgata. Gantoise are top on 21 points from eight games, and they’re the defending champions, so nobody needs telling how hard they are to beat. Braxgata sit eighth on nine points, which makes this look one-sided on paper. But Braxgata at home, with nothing to lose against the champions, is exactly the kind of game where a title race gets interesting. If Gantoise win, they stay clear. If they slip, the chasing pack smells it.

That pack is led by Dragons, and they’re the form story of the season so far. Still unbeaten after eight rounds, 20 points, one behind Gantoise. They host Antwerp on Sunday, and Antwerp are fourth on 14 points, so this is no gimme either. Dragons have built their season on not losing, and that’s a habit that wins leagues.

Elsewhere, third-placed Leuven host Beerschot, Léopold welcome Victory, Racing take on Uccle Sport, and Wellington face Waterloo Ducks. Leuven are the quiet climbers here, 17 points and right in the mix, while Léopold prop up the table on a single point and need something from somewhere soon.

Eight rounds in, the shape of this league is clear. Gantoise have the points, Dragons have the unbeaten run, and Leuven have the momentum. Sunday decides which of those stories gets louder.

Sunday 8 November fixtures: Braxgata v Gantoise, Dragons v Antwerp, Leuven v Beerschot, Léopold v Victory, Racing v Uccle Sport, Wellington v Waterloo Ducks. Kick-off times were not published with the fixture list.
