Den Bosch Visit Unbeaten SCHC in Sunday’s Hoofdklasse Top-Two Clash

Sunday’s women’s Hoofdklasse card has a proper top-of-the-table game, and it’s the one everyone will be watching. SCHC host Den Bosch, first against second, both sides still unbeaten after six games, and the winner takes the outright lead.

Den Bosch sit top on 18 points, six wins from six, 28 scored and one conceded. One. That’s not a typo, that’s a defence that barely lets anyone near the circle. SCHC are right behind them on 18 points too, six wins from six, 21 scored and eight conceded. Something has to give in Bilthoven, and the scoring race adds spice: Den Bosch’s Frédérique Matla leads the league with nine goals, SCHC’s Yibbi Jansen is second on eight. If either of them scores on Sunday, it probably decides the game and the top of the table.

Behind them, champions Amsterdam host Bloemendaal. Amsterdam are third on 13 points after last weekend’s 4-0 win at HDM, and they’re the side everyone still measures themselves against after last season’s final win over Den Bosch, 4-3 on a shootout after a 4-4 aggregate. Bloemendaal have four points from six games and lost 4-3 at home to HGC last weekend, so this is a tough trip for a side that needs points, not lessons.

Rotterdam, fourth on 13 points, host Pinoké, who are eighth on seven. Rotterdam won 1-0 at Hurley last weekend and have conceded nine in six games, the tightest defence outside the top two. Hurley, fifth on nine points, travel to Oranje-Rood, who are seventh on eight after a 2-2 draw at Kampong. Kampong, sixth on eight points, host HGC, who are tenth on three but showed life in that 4-3 win over Bloemendaal. Kampong’s Iris de Kemp has six goals this season, third in the scoring charts, and HGC will know all about her.

And then there’s the game at the bottom that might matter most to the two teams in it. Victoria host HDM. Victoria have lost all six, scored two, conceded 31, and took a 9-0 beating at Den Bosch last weekend. HDM have three points from six and lost 4-0 at home to Amsterdam. For Victoria, this is the most winnable game they’ve had all season. Lose this one and the winless run starts to feel like a season. Win it, and everything changes.

No start times are published in the listings checked for this piece, so check the KNHB schedule before travelling. Six games, two unbeaten records on the line, and a scoring race at the top. Sunday’s the day the women’s Hoofdklasse starts to sort itself out.
