Pakistan Women Call 36 Probables to Lahore Camp for AHF Cup in Jakarta

Pakistan’s women get back to work on Friday, and there’s a plane to Jakarta at the end of it.

A training camp for the national women’s probables opens at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore on 23 October and runs to 8 November, with 36 players called up. The target at the end of the camp is the AHF Women’s Cup in Jakarta, the continental second-tier tournament that doubles as the road into the Women’s Asia Cup for the teams that finish on top.

Thirty-six is a wide net, and it needs to be. Pakistan’s women don’t get many international windows, so a camp like this does three jobs at once: it finds form, it finds depth, and it reminds everyone watching that the programme exists between tournaments, not just during them.

The timing matters too. The camp runs straight through the men’s Asian Champions Trophy window and finishes just as the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup build-up takes over the men’s calendar, so the women will be training in Lahore while most of the country’s hockey attention is split between Punjab and Ipoh. Quiet weeks, hard work, no cameras. Sometimes that’s exactly what a squad needs.

What we don’t have yet is the trimmed list. Camps like this usually end with a squad announcement close to departure, and that’s the next thing to watch: who survives the cut from 36, and whether Pakistan travel to Jakarta with experience or with a youth gamble. Either way, the work starts Friday.

The men’s calendar the camp overlaps: the Asian Champions Trophy opening day fixtures and the confirmed Azlan Shah Cup 2026 field.
