Canada are coming to Islamabad: Pakistan to host a full series in February 2027

International hockey is coming back to Islamabad — and this time it’s a full series, not a one-off tour match.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation said on Saturday that Canada will tour Pakistan for a bilateral series in the capital from 8 to 21 February 2027. Two weeks, one city, and a visiting national team playing a proper series on Pakistani soil. For fans who have watched foreign teams stay away for years, that is not a small thing.

The PHF said it will work with the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination and the federal authorities on the unglamorous stuff that makes a tour actually happen — accommodation, transport, facilities and security for the Canadian delegation. PHF president Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani and the ministry’s federal secretary both welcomed the tour, calling it a chance to promote the game at home and strengthen sporting ties between the two countries.

And there’s a nice symmetry to it. Pakistan’s juniors are in Malaysia right now playing Canada at the Sultan of Johor Cup — the two federations are already crossing paths at under-21 level. A senior series in Islamabad takes that relationship a step further.

The federation framed the tour as part of a wider push: get Pakistan back on the international calendar, attract more foreign teams to tour, and give young players a reason to believe the pathway leads somewhere. It also talked about a development strategy covering under-18, under-21, senior men’s and women’s teams, better coaching and training facilities, and improved financial support for players.

Plenty still has to be confirmed — the number of matches, the venue schedule and ticket details have not been announced. But the dates are on the calendar: 8 to 21 February 2027, Islamabad, Pakistan v Canada. We’ll update this page as the fixture list lands.
