Kampong Women 3-1 Oranje-Rood: Moes Double Keeps the Chase Alive

Same night, same venue, same scoreline in spirit. Kampong’s women did what the men couldn’t on Thursday, beating Oranje-Rood 3-1 at home to climb into the chasing pack.

Guusje Moes was the difference. She opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, then struck again from a penalty corner after the break. Lynn Vasterink had levelled for Oranje-Rood from a corner just before half-time, but Kampong came out stronger and never let the game drift. Luna Fokke sealed it with a drag-flick ten minutes from time.

It’s a win that matters for the table. Kampong move on to 14 points, level with Rotterdam in the chasing pack behind Den Bosch, SCHC and Amsterdam. And for Oranje-Rood, it’s a fifth straight away defeat, a run that is starting to look like a real problem rather than a blip. They can score on the road. They just can’t seem to stop conceding there.

Moes is quietly putting together a fine season, and a double in a top match is exactly the kind of night that gets a forward noticed. Kampong’s challenge now is the same one every challenger faces in this league: Den Bosch don’t drop many points, so every home win has to be banked and every away trip has to be survived. Thursday was the banking part. Sunday’s Round 8 trip will be the surviving part.
