Sunday in the America East: UNH Host Vermont and UAlbany Host Bryant With Semi-Final Spots on the Line

BySportsCursor October 30, 2026October 30, 2026

Thursday settled the America East regular season. Sunday starts the part that actually matters.

Two quarter-finals, two home teams, and two very different kinds of danger for the favourites. Here’s how the bracket looks after a Thursday of shootouts, overtime winners and a shutout title win.

Fourth-seeded New Hampshire host fifth-seeded Vermont at 12pm on Sunday, and this one has a fresh edge to it. Vermont know exactly how fine the margins are right now: they outshot Maine 23-4 on Thursday in Orono and still lost in a shootout. UNH, meanwhile, are the team nobody wants in a tight game. Freshman Julianna Casucci won their Thursday game at Bryant in overtime, her second overtime winner of the season, after scoring with 54 seconds left in regulation.

UNH finished 5-10 overall and 3-2 in the conference, in a three-way tie for second, and took the fourth seed on the tiebreaker. Vermont finished 11-5 and 2-3. On paper the hosts are favourites. On recent evidence, Vermont will create chances. They just have to finish one this time.

Third-seeded UAlbany host sixth-seeded Bryant. The Great Danes finished 9-6 and 3-2 after Thursday’s 2-0 loss to UMass Lowell, a game where they actually outshot the champions but couldn’t break through. Bryant finished 7-10 and 0-5 in the conference, but don’t let the winless league record fool you: they took UNH to overtime on Thursday and led until the final minute.

The winners go through to Tuesday’s semi-finals. Maine, the second seeds, already know they’ll host the UAlbany-Bryant winner on Tuesday. The other semi-finalist will be decided in Durham. After Thursday, the smart money says at least one of these quarter-finals goes past 60 minutes. Bring extra time.
